Laparoscopic Surgery for Anorectal Malformations

چکیده
The aim of this review article is to review the technique of laparoscopic assisted anorectoplasty (LAARP), its modifications, indications, contraindications and outcomes for anorectal malformations (ARM). LAARP was first introduced by Willital in 1998 and developed by Georgeson in 2000. Many modifications have taken place to reduce complications and to provide better functional outcomes. Recto-bladder neck fistula, rectoprostatic fistula, high cloaca, high recto-vesical fistula, and rectal atresia are good indications for LAARP. Low cloaca, low recto-vesical fistula, recto bulbar fistula, and anal agenesis without fistula are relative indications. There is no indication of LAARP for other types of ARM. Outcomes of LAARP are at least similar to standard PSARP in many series and superior in some others. LAARP is a new development in the management of ARM.

Laparoscopic Sphincter Saving Surgery for Node Positive Anorectal Melanoma
Anorectal melanomas (ARM) are rare malignancies accounting for 0.4-0.6% of all melanoma cases and 1% of anorectal malignant tumors [1,2]. Surgery remains the gold standard treatment since melanoma are resistant to chemotherapy as well as radiotherapy. Conventionally two forms of surgical treatment are applicable for ARM–Abdominoperineal resection (APER) and wide local excision (WLE) [3]. Though...
متن کاملTeaching Anorectal Malformations
I was following Dr. Sushmita Bhatnagar's tutorials.[1,2] It is conventional, although necessary to teach as a primary need. I feel teaching anorectal malformations should include write up on issues of continence and constipations as these are lifelong problems in these patients. Teaching anatomy and physiology of continence and various techniques to manage incontinence or constipations is of pr...
متن کاملFeasibility of laparoscopic abdomino-perineal resection for large-sized anorectal cancers: a single-institution experience of 59 cases.
BACKGROUND Laparoscopic surgery for anorectal carcinoma is steadily gaining acceptance. While feasibility has already been reported, there are no reports addressing the impact of the actual size of large tumors on laparoscopic resectability. AIM To assess the feasibility and short-term results (including oncological surrogate end points) of performing laparoscopic abdomino-perineal resection ...
متن کاملAdvances in minimally invasive neonatal colorectal surgery
Over the last two decades, advances in laparoscopic surgery and minimally invasive techniques have transformed the operative management of neonatal colorectal surgery for conditions such as anorectal malformations (ARMs) and Hirschsprung's disease. Evolution of surgical care has mainly occurred due to the use of laparoscopy, as opposed to a laparotomy, for intra-abdominal procedures and the dev...
متن کاملLaparoscopic Surgery for Anorectal Malignancies Other than Carcinoma
OBJECTIVE Numerous concerns have been raised relative to the appropriateness of laparoscopic surgery for cure of rectal adenocarcinomas. However, because of their rarity, little information exists about the role of laparoscopy for other anorectal malignancies. We report the outcome of five patients who underwent laparoscopic surgery for other anorectal malignancies. METHODS All patients who u...
